Rates Rising! MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Hike December Prices on Key Routes

Recently, multiple shipping lines, including MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, and Maersk, have announced their first wave of rate adjustments for December.

MSC

MSC宣布,自2025年12月1日起,从远东港口(包括但不限于日本、韩国和东南亚的港口)至北欧和地中海(包括西地中海、东地中海、亚得里亚海和北非)以及黑海港口的新运费将调整为如下:

All prices are in USD unless otherwise noted.

The quoted rates include the base ocean freight plus the following surcharges (per VATOS):

  • GFS (Global Fuel Surcharge): $79/TEU, effective Dec 2025.

  • ECA (Emission Control Area Surcharge): $15/TEU for Mediterranean & North Europe (incl. Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, UK, Netherlands, France), and$52/TEU for other North Europe & Baltic countries.

Additionally, the following will be charged:

  • CLS (Carbon Limitation Surcharge): $20/TEU.

  • CRS (Carbon Review Surcharge): $57/TEU for North Europe,$85/TEU for Mediterranean.

Note: The FAK (Freight All Kinds) rate excludes all IMO dangerous goods classes and high-value cargo.

CMA CGM 

On November 19, CMA CGM announced a FAK (Freight All Kinds) rate increase for shipments from the Far East to the Mediterranean and North Africa. The adjustment will be effective from December 1 to December 14, 2025, with rates reaching up to USD 6,300 per 40-foot container. Details are as follows:

Hapag-Lloyd

Hapag-Lloyd has announced an increase to its FAK (Freight All Kinds) rates for shipments between the Far East and Europe, effective December 1, 2025. This adjustment applies to cargo transported in 20’ and 40’ dry and reefer containers, including high-cube units. Details are as follows:

Maersk 

Maersk has recently issued a notice stating that it will levy a Congestion Fee Destination (CFD) on all cargo moving from ports in the Middle East and Far East to the Port of Beira, Mozambique, starting from December 25.

Maersk has also announced a scanning fee of EUR 25 per container in Romania.

The “Import Inspection Fee” applies to all full container import and transshipment containers discharged from Maersk vessels and handled at the South Container Terminal in Constanța, Romania, where scanning procedures are now in effect.

The price will be effective December 1, 2025, while the effective date for FMC scope is December 15, 2025.
